LIFE SCIENCE 7: Through scientific investigations, students use scientific equipment, models, specimens, and computer technology to conduct experiments. Students will explore concepts of Cell Biology, Body Systems, Genetics, Evolution, Earth and Life History, Structure and Function in Living Systems, and Ecology.
PHYSICAL SCIENCE 8: Through scientific investigations, students use scientific equipment, models, specimens, and computer technology to conduct experiments. Students will explore the concepts of Motion, Force, Structure of Matter, Earth in the Solar System, Reactions, the Chemistry of Living Systems, the Periodic Table, and Density and Buoyancy. All 8th graders participate in the La Colina Science Fair by conducting independent investigations. As we adapt our curriculum to adhere to the new Next Generation Science Standards, we are paying special attention the the Engineering Design Process and its relationship to the Scientific Method. Our focus is to prepare students for college and for the future scientific workforce.
